Cyber System Operations (System Administrator Equivalent)
System Administration
My position fills the role of a Systems Administrator for the USAF. I have had direct experience configuring, managing, and deploying Windows and Linux-based Virtual Machines, Firewalls, Proxys, Domain Controllers, Host Intrusion Prevention Systems, Backup Servers, and other virtual machines in a production environment. In this role, I provide mainly Tier II support in a versatile client environment while focusing on upgrading and maintaining deployed services. This position focuses highly on a virtualized environment with virtual machines specifically with Wintel services hosted in VMware vSphere. I am responsible for publishing upgrades while taking into account downtime and affected services to ensure efficiency and reduce impedances to clients using our services. I am expected to know our data recovery campaign as well as our contingency if needed. This requires anyone in my position to understand frequently updated and current security practices and etiquette. In this position, not only am I held to a high standard of knowledge of the software and services we deploy, but also we are required to have an intimate knowledge of the hardware, hypervisors, and BIOS of our servers and various operating systems. I enjoy writing basic scripts to automate the mundane as well as creating front-facing GUIs to improve comprehension and usability. I have hands-on experience with cloud computing, PKI, Powershell Scripting, Active Directory, Docker Compose, Group Policy, and other desirable subjects. If you are interested in learning more about the specific services and experience I have to offer, you may learn more from my resume at the bottom of this page.
Networking
I have a well-instituted understanding of a network's needs and have experience implementing IT infrastructure such as Switches, Routers, Modems, Access Points, and large-scale Servers as well as some higher logical concepts such as subnetting and trunking. I have instituted virtual networks with Vlans and understand how they can be used to improve traffic and isolate devices with higher-level permissions. I have a basic understanding of Cisco systems, VoIP, and port management. As a System Administrator, I am responsible for comprehending ports and common protocols while creating new policies for our firewalls. I have prior experience with IT infrastructure and installation, specifically with terminating Cat5e Cat6 and Cat7 network cabling.
Tier I and Helpdesk
I have provided technical support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware and software issues. I am experienced in troubleshooting practices for email services and client devices. I have demonstrated strong leadership skills in coordinating team efforts and resolving conflicts. I work well independently, but can also work in a team. I am accepting of others' inputs and criticisms and take into consideration team members' skills and experiences. I will always try to resolve an issue to the best of my abilities before consulting another. However, I know when I need help and am not afraid to ask for assistance when needed.
